jackie earle haley says hello

April 27, 2009

Where do I start?

I’ve been meaning to post a video… and hope to soon, but I’m super busy letting my inner Freddy out. Speaking of which… this is me… in Chicago… at the big shiny thing that looks like a bean.  Very cool.  Chicago rocks.

At any rate… I did want to drop a note to give everyone a huge thanks.  So many people responded to Rorschach in such a positive way… it really warmed my heart.  At a signing a young lady gave me a book that she had made…it was a professionally designed and crafted book… that was full of thank yous and artwork from people everywhere!  Man… what a gift.  All of you guys have rocked my world.

I also want to thank Tony and Chris for getting the sight up and running… I’m still not sure what a MyFaceBook is, or how to feed a twitter… But Tony and Chris do.   With there help I ought to be able to gets some twitterage and myfacing going on now and again.  Some stupid stuff… anyway.

Thanks ya’ll… okay, I’m gonna go stare at the shiny bean thing.

  1. The book! I hated my sketch. D:

Glad to know you liked the book though! The girl who put it together put a lot of work into it.

That shiny bean thing looks all sorts of mesmerizing. It reminds me of that fish thing is Barcelona I couldn’t take my eyes off of.

I would usually warn people away from Twitter. Twitter is the crack of the internet. Once you start it is almost impossible to stop.

    Cheers,

    Jessica

  2. That bean looks delicious.

  3. Wahhh, this is so cool. Thanks for saying hello, and for the photos.

Can’t wait to see your version of Freddy.

  4. Holy beans! It’s Jackie Earle Haley, Batman! :) Great to see you on the net, Jackie. I can’t believe you’re already in Chicago… I was planning on visiting some relatives in San Antonio… mainly in hopes that I would at least get to see you once from afar… ha! Such wishful thinking!

I hope your inner Freddy will still let you have time for your loving fans! And tell him I said hi, by the way. :)

    -Liz

P.S. You still owe me an autographed picture! ;)

  5. Wow! Thanks for dropping a message, Jackie! And I’m glad you liked the book. :-)

Chicago (and the giant metal bean) looks awesome! I need to go sometime; always kind of deterred by my family’s horror stories (my mom freaks out at the thought of the traffic there; she and my stepdad had a horrid drive-through once, heh).

Looking forward to your Freddy. :-)

    Take care,
    Theresa

  6. ! Oh hi thur, Mister Haley!

I missed the deadline for the book, sadly, but I’m glad you enjoyed everyone else’s works as much as we enjoyed your Rorschach. (Really cannot wait to see your Freddy!)

And don’t worry about not knowing what any of those websites are. To be honest, I don’t know either. Myspace is the only thing I know how to work, or barely know how to work, that is.

Also, that big shiny bean…thing…is epic. If I were you, I’d totally sit there and stare at that thing for-freaking-ever. And ask if they had mini shiny bean-things for me to buy and own and distract people with. Oooh shiny bean thing, how I would love theee…

Mmk, I’m gunna go before I really scare everyone. Just…yeah..

    -Leah

  7. You totally have to come to the Washington D.C. area so I can see you some time! We have more than shiny beans to look at, that’s for sure!
    XD

  8. I was so shocked to see that you posted something. But it totally made my day. :D I think “myfacing” is my new favorite word. I hope you don’t get burnt out from your busy schedule.

  9. Hi Jackie, so awesome to see you update from Chicago! And holy cow you mentioned the book! So glad you liked it, it was a blast to put together and can I just say, you have the coolest fans ;)

Best of luck with filming! :D

  10. Wow! How neat is this? I’m glad to hear you liked the book. Love your picture of the giant metal bean (that thing is so cool looking!), and I can’t wait to see your Freddy. I have a feeling it’ll be worth the sleepless nights & nightmares (kind of a wuss when it comes to scary movies, heh).

    Take care,
    Theresa

  11. Jackie, you are spoiling us! ;D

Anyway, this brightened up my day A LOT. ♥

    Thank you!

  12. It’s cool to see that you are in Chicago, I’ve never been there but it seem’s like a really cool place. :)

I hope you have fun filming the “Freddy” movie, I’ve never seen any of the original film’s, but I’ll check this out just for you!

  13. The giant metallic bean reminds me a lot of ‘Flight of the Navigator’. Childhood nostalgia!

  14. I don’t have much experience with Twitter, but Facebook is dangerously addictive :C

It made my day to read that you liked the book! I really enjoyed making my entry!

  15. Yay! You’re in Chicago! Sorry it’s so rainy and crappy right now! It gets really pretty and warm during the summer! hope you like it here!

NOES is one of my favorite horror movies and I’m so frikkin happy you’re Freddy AND you’re filming in Chicago! :)

  16. Enjoy yourself in Chi Town! Not bad in the spring and summer but too cold for me in the winter! I used to live in Champaign, IL (no, not a suburb of Chicago, ha) and I don’t remember the bean thing. Must check that thing out some time…

  17. Thank you for taking the time to personally respond to is fans. I have enjoyed seeing your face on screen ever since Breaking Away (I was too young for BNB when you hit the scene). As it happened, as well as having already being enamored by your acting style, I am also a long time Watchmen fan. It was certainly a delight to see that my favorite character was being portrayed by an actor I already respect.

Wishing you continued success and many more films in your future,
    -N

  18. Myfacing…. Jackie you’re adorable. :) Glad to see you’re enjoying the Bean over in Chi town. Hope you’re doing well.

  19. Thanks for posting! So glad you liked the fanbook. I am really looking forward to Shutter Island this year and am doing my best to resist reading the book so I don’t spoil the movie experience. Hope you are having fun playing Freddy are able to get some rest from what must be a crazy schedule.

  20. Wow, this is so sweet. That bean thingy is surreal.

  21. Hm… you are pampering us :D it’s wonderful, of course!

Wish you cool romantic things there :)

  22. Dear Everyone,
I just wanted to drop a message to you all about the Swine Flu going around. Please take care of yourselves – I didn’t realize the Flu was everywhere (I thought it was a U.S, Mexico border thing, but apparently the Flu’s hit Europe and New Zealand among others). Last I heard there was a breakout in a prep school in New York although other states have confirmed the Flu in their areas. So yeah. Take care. If you feel sick then act upon it: for the Flu its recommended you treat it like a normal flu (or so I understand): get plenty of rest and get plenty of fluids going into your system. Take care of yourselves people!

    … please?
Oh also, I’m NOT a doctor or nurse or anything. Just wanted to get a warning out to the good people of the site.

  23. Hi there, Jackie! You were one of my childhood heroes as Kelly Leak, and now you’ve played my fave Watchmen character…and what you did with Rorschach was incredible (besides making this short, ginger girl go “ginger shorties ROCK” in the cinema!). I had always thought Rorschach was such an extreme character you couldn’t portray in a non-ironic, serious fashion, but you did it, and more.
Have fun in Chicago, and I’m looking forward to Freddy-not a childhood hero of mine, but a childhood memory nonetheless.
Oh, and creating new words is a fave pastime of mine-I’m a linguist…
    *waves hello from Germany*

  24. Thanks for the personal message Jackie, you grow more awesome with every passing moment. I was too late to add to the fan book- but I am so glad you received it and liked it. :) You deserve a little personal thanks from the fans.

  25. Mr. Haley, I just wanted to say, I truly enjoy your work and I’m really happy that you threw yourself back into film again. I’m a Film student at the moment, trying to work my way up from a PA onwards. We studied the 70′s in an American Cinema class I had, and Bad News Bears was mentioned. Also, when I found out you were able to work with Patrick Wilson again, I was ecstatic. Little Children is an amazing movie, your performance in that was heartbreaking.

All right, I’ll finish prattling on now. Can’t wait to see more of your work, I eagerly await it! Maybe one day, I’ll be able to bring coffee to you at a 3 a.m. night shoot.

    - Kat

  26. Letting your inner Freddy out, haha. That’s absolutely awesome.

Can’t wait for the next update~

  27. Lol, that bean thingy is totally awesome XD

Dude, you rock. love these updates =]

    Salaam from Saudi Arabia.

  28. Sir- I just cannot put into proper words how completely awesome you are. And, boy, are we all glad that you’ve put yourself back into film. Still can’t tell you how cool you are as Rorschach. Wasn’t a Watchmen fan before- but the moment I laid eyes on Rorschach, I was like “cool- who’s the guy in the noir-ish getup?” And then after watching the film, I had to get the graphic novel.
Looking forward to watch your performance as Freddy.

  29. Just because you couldn’t have possible have heard it enough…you are absolutely amazingly awesome :)
Thanks for posting here for your fans, such a small act really means so much to us!

I was just thinking the other day how cool it would be to see that Rorschach audition tape you made *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* maybe as a special on the Watchman dvd…I’m sure it was totally cute….

Look forward to more updates from you and your inner Freddy!

  30. Nice ! So cool of you to post and share this stuff with us,look forward to more of it !

  31. Hi, nice post. I have been wondering about this topic,so thanks for writing. I’ll probably be subscribing to your blog. Keep up the good work

  32. Ah, the inner Freddy. I know you aren’t enjoying the makeup process, but it is a good chance to practice meditating, or something. I find the whole process relaxing. Well, the clean-up is a bit of a pain, ’cause you are always left with little bits of half dissolved glue everywhere, and that’s just gross and annoying. Are they giving you wet microwaved facecloths at the end of the night? Well, tell them to.
Oh, you will be such an amazing Freddy.

  33. the bean is shining … like you !! what up ?

    xoxoox

  34. It really is a shiny bean! How wicked!

  35. I think the bean’s an alien spaceship that’s disguised as a Cool Modern Building while its invisible inhabitants wait for the zombie apocalypse to begin their takeover of sweet Mother Earth..

  36. Hi, very nice post. I have been wonder’n bout this issue,so thanks for posting
