Next Up, Shutter Island

May 2, 2009

JEH will be appearing soon in the next big movie by Martin Scorsese. Shutter Island is a drama set in 1954 and stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams and of coarse, Jackie Earle Haley. Will hopefully have more on that later.

In other news, spoke with JEH yesterday about NoES, here is a quote…”Dude…it sure is fun working with Sam and getting Freddy ready.” Can’t wait to see what those two cook up!
Just thought I’d share that with everyone, yall have a good weekend

cheers,
Tony

  1. sweet. =)

  2. As a fan of Sir Kingsley, Scorsese, and of course JEH… I cannot wait for this film! XD

  3. I’m crazy excited about this and Jackie’s role since I read the book. The caliber of everyone in this movie has got Oscar bait written all over it. With The Road and Where the Wild Things Are coming up in October as well, should be a really good fall movie season.

  4. I just listened to ‘Shutter Island’ on CD this week, and WOW, it seemed like George Noyce was written just for Mr. Haley! His character is really the key to the whole story, and what an intense, terrifying scene that will be, there in the dark in Ward C…can’t think of another actor who could absolutely melt into Noyce and electrify the film like Mr. Haley will. What a real treat that’ll be! I can’t wait to see it!

  5. Wow, two films in one year and NoES in the making….Jackie is on a roll!
I’m going to go get a copy of Shutter Island to read so I’ll be ready when the movie comes out.
I can’t wait… I’m so excited about all the great things he is doing!!

  6. Hmmm…

  7. I haven’t read the book, but I plan to. (Once I am done with ‘Little Children’.) I just cannot wait too see Jackie in another movie! And about NoE, I haven’t seen the original films, but I think Jackie will do a very good job and I wish him luck! :)

  8. ”Dude…it sure is fun working with Sam and getting Freddy ready.”

It’s funny how he’ll probably be the most terrifying Freddy yet, but here he is sounding like “^__^ cool!!” Haha amazing.

  9. I’m really looking forward to “Shutter Island.” Too bad that comes out in October. (So far from now!)

I watched the original NoES just because JEH is gonna be in the remake. I’m totally stoked to see what he’ll do with the role.

  10. He’ll be the best Freddy Krueger yet, because along with being such an intense & interesting actor he brings an intellectual authenticity and emotional complexity to every single character he plays. For the first time, we’ll get to see Freddy as a three dimensional person, not simply a horror icon in a Christmas sweater. It’s gonna be amazing!

  11. Must watch NoEst. Must read Shutter Island….and Little Children (but I’m dragging my feet on this one- I blame the narrator in the movie. He was jarring; would’ve been better off w/out him, so it’s like…a grudge. A really stupid, silly grudge). Fall season is looking good as the summer (if not better- I’m also looking forward to the Road as well). Can’t wait for all JEH future movies to come. and @fan#somethingorother: perhaps that’s why we love him so much. Because on screen he can be these intense, horrible, wonderful, dark, strange, intriguing characters and yet when he’s not on the screen, he’s this happy, normal guy sans the violence and residue of the characters he plays. Not that other actors aren’t, just- Jackie shines better. =D

  12. Ink I totally agree with you. I know personally the reason I think Jackie so uber amazing is that he can play the dark twisted and fascinating characters that make us really question humanity but then off camera he is so sweet and genuine and real. Just like you said he shines, and you just can’t take your eyes off him on set or off. He seems like a pretty special guy. :) one of a kind.

  13. He sure is. (prevents self from squealing like a crazy fangirl).

    Finished reading Shutter Island.
    Holy Crap….
